Welcome
I'm a regional painter based in Pittsburgh. The work you'll see on my site is somewhat varied; I work mostly from life ("en plein air"), and landscapes are my main subject. But landscape to me can mean anything from a bucolic, pastoral scene to a rusting junk yard. I'm especially drawn to the texture of urban settings, old houses and abandoned factories.
New: Beginning December 2010
Open Studio. Open Invitation. First Saturday of every month.
My studio will be open for visitors - no appointment necessary - the first Saturday of every month. All are welcome-students, friends, family or folks who just want to see where an artist works. Please stop in and say hi. I'll be there from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. unless noted otherwise on this site. My address is 208 Main Street, Pittsburgh (Lawrenceville), PA 15201. I'm located on the 2nd floor of a large brick building directly across from the Citizen's Bank parking lot, just off Butler Street. If I don't respond to the door bell, please call my cell: 412.216.1914.
A note about pricing and availability
Most paintings on this site are at my studio. However, some may be hanging in juried exhibitions, in various galleries or museum shows, and some may be already sold. I chose to include some images that are currently unavailable to show you my most recent and most representative work. Contact me and I can tell you more about availability and options.
What is Plein Air painting?
Simply stated it is painting directly from life. It comes from the French phrase, "en plein aire" meaning in the open air. If you are interested in painting outdoors with a nice group of artists please visit this page,
The Plein Air Painters of Western Pennsylvania. Or just contact me for the schedule.
